St. Louis-based all-volunteer orchestra with a mission to support the LGBTQ+ community

History of the Orchestra

While St. Louis has been home to LGBTQ+ musical ensembles for many years, an orchestra only became a reality in 2024. As the creative team began to envision what such an orchestra would look like, the name Alliance Philharmonia Orchestra was born. “Philharmonia” in Greek refers to a love of musical harmony, an apt name for any orchestra; for APO, the name also reflects a love of togetherness and community enjoyed by our members and audiences. APO became a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization in 2024.
